Lloyd Hilling and CiCi Chen won three straight matches and captured first place in the Random Doubles Table Tennis Tournament held at the Patty Center on Sunday, February 18th. The second place team of Carol Johnson and Eric Carvalho put up strong competition for Hilling and Chen and sent the match into a fifth game tie breaker. With strong serving Chen and Hilling took an early lead in the game and managed to fend off Johnson and Carvalho's continued attacks to take the 11-8 victory and $20 first prize!
Finishing third in the tournament was the team of Chirk Chu and Joe Kan. Linda McNamara and Jerry Smith rounded out the tournament in fourth place. Taking home the $10 door prizes were Joe Kan and Linda McNamara.
Alaska table tennis players are preparing for the Alaska Open Table Tennis Championships to be held on Sunday, March 4th in Anchorage. The tournament is for all skill levels and ages. Entry forms for the tournament can be found at www.tabletennis.netfirms.com.
